Concealed weapon license
Applications, photos and fingerprints are available by appointment only in our
DeLand office, 123, W. Indiana Avenue.
Legislation passed in 2014 allows the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) to
partner with Florida tax collectors to offer a streamlined and secure application process for concealed
weapon licenses.

Florida requirements
Is a concealed weapon/firearm license still required in Florida? The Florida Department of Agriculture
and Consumer Services has provided answers to frequently asked
questions regarding legislation enacted in 2023.
Department hours
Our concealed weapon licensing department is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Friday and from 8:30
a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday. The office closes for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.
Services offered by our office
New concealed weapon license
- Upon arrival at the Volusia County Tax Collector office, the
applicant will complete the concealed weapon license application at a computer station. The
application will be reviewed before it is sent to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer
Services. The applicant also will be photographed and electronically fingerprinted. This process
should take less than 30 minutes. Prescreening in our office decreases the likelihood of the
application being delayed due to errors or omissions.
- Applicants must demonstrate competency with a firearm to
qualify for a license by providing a copy of a training document or other certificate that confirms
you are proficient with a firearm.
- An applicant's eligibility for licensure will be made by the Florida Department of Agriculture and
